Welcome to the Assetz Capital Blog
Happily, peer-to-peer lending has proved the doubters wrong. Each month, more and more people use P2P lending platforms such as Assetz Capital to lend money to UK Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and property developers, earning returns as high as 8pc-13pc p/a before taxes or any losses that might occur.
The growth of peer-to peer lending
It’s not just more of the same – P2P lending has come a very long way since its early days. Exciting companies have come to the market, many offering something new and helping to raise standards. Meanwhile, the industry has attracted some powerful attention, and is recognised by some of the UK’s most influential figures as a powerful force for good. Agencies such as NESTA have commissioned reports on the fast-growing sector, and respected researchers now publish regular data on the P2P lending market.
The role of the Assetz Capital blog
While this blog will touch upon the high-level growth in the peer-to-peer lending market, our intention is for it to do much more than that. The market is evolving. Although much of the focus in the media is on institutional lenders jumping on board, in fact the big shift over the next 12 months will be among retail investors as the products on offer become more accessible and attractive (and for many investors, tax free as the Government makes it possible to invest via NISAs).
In the posts that follow, we’ll be looking at issues and news affecting the industry – and you personally as investors and borrowers – and giving you our own insights into what’s going on behind the scenes. I’m lucky enough to have what I consider to be the best team in peer-to-peer lending working with me here, so I’ll also be drawing on their experience and asking them to contribute. Last but not least, if there’s any question you’d like answered on how it works, or any subject you think we should cover, let me know (you can reach me at andrew.holgate@assetzcapital.co.uk) and I’ll see what I can do.
