Assetz Capital, one of the fastest growing peer-to-peer business lending platforms in the UK, and The Interface Financial Group (IFG), one of the North America’s largest alternative finance sources for small businesses and operating in nine countries, have signed a deal to deliver a much needed invoice finance peer-to-peer product.

Initially this will be available in the UK but will quickly roll out to Ireland and other European countries and then beyond.  The Joint Venture cements the desire of Assetz Capital to become a lender of choice for SMEs in offering a wide range of funding solutions, and for IFG to enter the UK and European P2P market.

Invoice finance investments will be available to Assetz Capital investors in Q1 of 2015. As with all loans from Assetz Capital, this new offering will be backed by realisable security and will go through the proven IFG credit underwriting process. Losses for the last four years across the whole of IFG’s invoice discounting volume of funding is just 0.04% pa average.

Unlike other invoice finance peer-to-peer platforms, Assetz Capital’s product can be invested in from as little as £1. Diversification being important, Assetz Capital will allow investors to automatically diversify their investments across an invoice portfolio rather than having to pick individual transactions to invest in.

Stuart Law, CEO at Assetz Capital commented, “We are building a range of credit products to suit all kinds of businesses, and also a marketplace of peer-to-peer investment products to suit all kinds of investors from retail and ISA through to hedge funds and credit funds. Invoice finance offers short-term funding for businesses, partially replacing overdraft facilities, in return for healthy, returns for investors. There is a big appetite from both businesses and investors for this managed solution.

“Assetz Capital takes a strict stance when it comes to credit underwriting and security on its loans and all invoice finance transactions will follow the equally strict and proven IFG credit process.”

“Having lent more than £55m to UK SMEs and property developers in 18 months, the new invoice finance product is the next stage of growth from Assetz Capital.  It will offer a new form of investment for our lending customers and is the second new product in as many months, following the Green Energy Investment Account.”

“A new Invoice Finance Account will be launched which will provide strong liquidity across an asset class that as an average transaction duration of 42 days.”

Partnering with Assetz Capital, The Interface Financial Group (IFG), who just has launched its invoice finance marketplace platform in US and Canada, and has worked with hundreds of thousands of small businesses in the 9 countries for more than 40 years. Offering alternative short-term business funding solutions, they have successfully grown into a valuable short-term funding solution for many SMEs.

George Shapiro, CEO and Chairman of The Interface Financial Group (IFG), said: “We’ve been working with thousands of businesses over the years who were unable to obtain traditional business finance facilities. The growth of IFG demonstrates this, and with Assetz Capital’s peer to peer finance platform and our market leading credit-underwriting platform we are able to expand our footprint in UK and Europe so that more businesses globally can benefit from agile financial solutions. The peer-to-peer model also enables investors to gain great returns, so we’re looking forward to getting started.”

Essential characteristics of Assetz Capital, include:

  • The loans are backed by tangible security so should one default, that security can be used to try to recover lenders’ capital.
  • There is a minimum investment of £1 due to there being no lender costs that make small investments uneconomic.
  • If a lender needs their money back early, they can sell on loan parts via the active secondary market so long as there are other investors to buy them.
